The 1951-52 Wayne team was the 1952 district champs as shown on the W letter above.
Wayne also won the 1952-53 county tournament championship, after finishing third in the 1951-52 county tournament.
In the 1952 county tournament, Wayne lost to Blanchester then defeated Sabina to place third but were still able to advance to the district tournament because Clinton County was allowed three qualifiers that year.
Wayne then defeated Xenia East, Wayne of Montgomery Co, and New Paris to reach district title game against New Vienna.
Wayne defeated NV 44-37 to advance to the regional tournament against Urbana who Wayne lost to 45-42 in the regional semifinals.
